2008 Rogue Valley Earth Day Celebration
“Growing Our Common Ground!”
at ScienceWorks in Ashland
Saturday, April 19, 11 am  -  4 pm

The Rogue Valley Earth Day annual event is at ScienceWorks Hands-on Museum, 1500 East Main Street in Ashland. All ages are invited to this free community festival. Exhibitors demonstrate ways to conserve energy, reduce waste, prevent pollution, protect wildlife and create an earth-friendly lifestyle. Enjoy live entertainment, activities and delicious snacks for sale.

The RVTD Shuttle makes stops in Medford and Talent, and loops through Ashland throughout the event.

This is a Zero Waste event: Instead of bringing disposable cups, containers and other items, please bring reusable alternatives to the event.

Volunteers Needed! If you are interested in volunteering at this year's event, please contact our Earth Day Volunteer Coordinator, Nala, via email or at 541.951.1136. Two shifts are available: 10 am — 1:15pm & 1 — 4:15 pm. Volunteers will receive a $5 food voucher, good at food vendors on the day of the event.

Volunteers make this celebration a success — we hope you will join us!

Toward a Carbon Neutral & Zero Waste Event

Thanks to Bonneville Environmental Foundation — Ashland Renewable Pioneers, www.GreenAshland.org, for providing Green Tags to offset the environmental impact of Rogue Valley Earth Day 2008. Emissions resulting from event day electricity use, the RVTD shuttle route, and 500 autos traveling 10 miles, will be made carbon neutral by adding 5,000 kilowatt-hours of clean, renewable energy to the regional power grid. Think Green, Act Now!

Rogue Valley Earth Day strives to be a "Zero Waste" event. All food vendors will serve their edibles with biodegradable plates, cups, napkins and utensils. Used dishware will be collected separately and composted at a ScienceWorks demonstration site. In addition, Ashland Sanitary & Recycling will collect all recyclable material generated during the celebration.

Help make Earth Day Zero Waste! Instead of bringing disposable cups and other items, please bring reusable alternatives.
